Ramberg is a smooth skater with good edge work and lateral movement. He is not the fastest player on the ice though, and he needs to improve both his acceleration and top speed. He is a defenseman that goes to work hard every day and is very compliant in the defensive part of the game, rarely getting outplayed. He keeps his head on a swivel and has good knowledge of where both his teammates and opponents are on the ice.  He is very active with both his feet and stick to poke the puck loose and often wins situations along the boards. When he has the puck in his own zone, he tries to gain speed to start a play with distinct and accurate passes. He looks very calm with the puck and makes few mistakes. He is a smart player and sees the ice well, making many mature decisions and plays confidently with the puck. He has decent size and strength, which he tends to use along the boards, but he can improve his positioning in the defensive zone. He can move the puck well and has a decent, accurate first pass. In the offensive zone, he often tries to be playable and moves towards the goal to create scoring chances. Along the blueline, he plays with confidence and handles tight situations without losing the puck, though he could stand to shoot more.  Overall, he is a well-rounded defenseman that is good in many areas, but not exceptional in any one area.
