Puutio plays an efficient, puck-moving style of game as he keeps his head up, keeps his feet moving and the puck under control. Much of his game centers heavily around skating. Utilizes an active stick and displays good timing when using it, often being successful in interrupting plays and digging out pucks along the boards. Makes smart decisions even when under pressure, though inconsistencies can sometimes plague him.  He is not necessarily a very physical player by nature but can close the gap with his body along boards and is not afraid of finishing off checks close to boards. He wears his body down a fair a bit by holding pucks past their expiry date and even though his edges and acceleration allow him an escape option, he doesn’t always use the space afforded to him well. One of his biggest offensive strengths is his powerful slap shot that can be a dangerous weapon, especially on the powerplay. That said, his shot isn’t as much of a threat as he could be as he needs to shoot on the net more often and more accurately. There are some concerns with his consistency and whether he is developing fast enough to make an impact at the next level. Overall, he is a versatile player and reliable, but he needs to add more tools to his toolbox to truly make a splash. One thing he has going for him is his professional approach to the game and inquisitive nature.
