A post-hugging goalie that shows signs of good positioning and remains square to the play. His size in the net helps offset his slow lateral movement. He is able to stretch out across the goal line to make a pad save. Rebound control could use more work, as the opposing team would be able to gain possession off his cough-ups. Solid puck handling skills and is able to stop the puck behind his net. Good foresight in passing the puck to teammates. Efficient at tracking the puck and is always moving his head to keep in front of the puck. Foot speed improves as the game wears on. Crisp lateral movements. Blocker side is strong, swift, and accurate. Able to block one-timers or heavy slap shots. Post-sealing is not as cohesive as it could be. Has greatly improved his ability to close the five-hole. He hugs the posts tightly but moves a little slow from side to side. He stays calm after getting scored on, which is a good trait in a goalie. Isn’t easily rattled after getting scored on. Is able to adjust and learn from mistakes. He should spend the summer working on his lower body strength to help make his lateral movement more explosive and technically sharp. There is still a lot of immaturity in his technical game but hopefully he can work on that this summer.
