A defender who can use his quickness and on-ice awareness to help make up for lack of height. He is light on his feet and has quick strides that while slowing down his top-level speed allows him to move laterally extremely well. While defending he keeps tight gaps and has an active stick making it difficult to take the puck right at him. His speed isn’t great, causing some issues while defending the rush, puck carriers have success when going wide along the boards against him, because of his size and lack of speed he struggles once he has to pivot from backwards skating to forward. He needs to learn to anticipate the play a little better or work on improving his top-end speed to help offset this issue. In the offensive zone he’s a good creator, he has solid vision and has the passing skills that allow him to be an effective offensive blue liner. Decision making will need to improve, particularly without the puck, sometimes he’s too aggressive with his decisions to pinch causing odd-man rushes the other way. His high-energy playing style allow him to make up for a lot of his deficiencies but as he progresses through the professional ranks his size and lack of strength could be exposed more regularly.
