FCHockey releases Final ranking for 2021 NHL Draft

A small, creative player who has an aggressive mindset when he has the puck on his stick. Werner has great elusiveness, he has good lateral movement and above-average speed that allows him to attack defenders in a number of different ways. He has quick hands that allow him to handle the puck in tight quarters, he keeps the puck close to his body and can maneuver through traffic rather easily. Werner doesn’t try to do anything overly complicated with the puck, making smart and calculated decisions to avoid turnovers and costly mistakes. While he isn’t afraid to get creative with the puck, he knows how to play within his skillset and the strategy of his team’s system. He has a lot of potential but has a long path ahead for himself if he wants to make it to the professional level. Werner played in the NAHL during his draft year and will have show that his skillset can translate to higher levels of competition before he sniffs the professional level. Werner has the ability to be a productive player, his offensive awareness and puck skills are his best attributes and if he can develop and have strong showings in higher leagues like the USHL or NCAA it could go a long way to helping him carve a path to the NHL.
