An intense blueliner that applies great pressure on puck carriers. Proves to be consistently engaged in the play. Light on his feet, he is able to open his hips well to pivot. Very mobile, but without an explosive top speed. Has great control of his skating and displays good edge work as well as agility. Able to change direction and adapt to plays effectively. Efficient at skating backwards. Works hard along the boards and battles hard, holding players while fishing the puck out. Unbalanced in open ice, losing his footing with any physical play. Chases the puck carrier too often, reacting to what they do rather than dictating and directing the play. Creeps up in the play, but is often ignored in the fray and could make more of an impact on a shift-to-shift basis. Efficient stretch passer and opens the ice up for his team to spark odd-man rushes. Shows impatience with the puck, especially in the neutral zone. Will often dump the puck to regroup instead of surveying the pad to find a better play for possession. Can effectively shoot through traffic and find the net. Uses his body appropriately to shut down the play. Very effective on the penalty kill. Can get overwhelmed when he has the puck and often gets rid of it too soon. Shows a good defensive stance and keeps his stick active.
