FCHockey releases 2021 NHL Draft Guide

Unfortunately for Ride, he missed his draft year because of the pandemic and lost a crucial year to show scouts what he brings to the table. That being said he’s a massive physical specimen who brings above average puck skills. He can control the puck well, spot open teammates and deliver crisp and accurate passes. As a bigger player, it’s not a surprise to see that he struggles with his mobility, does not bring a ton of speed or fluidity in his stride and could struggle to keep up with higher paces of play. He uses his size to his advantage when defending, using his long reach to close gaps on defenders and disrupt passing lanes with ease. When opposing players can get him moving force him to use his edgework he struggles and is vulnerable at getting beat, but with his size advantage he can recover well. Ride brings a lot in terms of physical traits but the rest of his game does need some polishing up, he has an NCAA commitment and could develop a ton over the next few years while playing in college. As of right now, his game and lack of playing over the last year will hurt his chances at getting selected in the draft but could find himself on the bubble in the last round.
