A lofty defenseman who can pry most pucks from opponents when it comes to battles. Shows some speed for a player of his stature, but plays at a varying pace. Strong cruising speed but his stamina could some work. Good edges and uses them to his advantage to create time and space when he is being pursued. Plays with an active stick. Does a good job at keeping the opponent to the outside of the defensive zone. Limits their chances of getting a shot on net or a pass through the slot. Quick to the puck, but often slower when following the play. His balance needs some work, but he shows excellent reach and is able to easily pick the puck off of his opponents. Strong, accurate shot when possessing a strong net front presence. He’s able to block shots in the defensive end with little effort. Makes smart plays under pressure and does not panic with the puck on his stick. He is physical in the corners and uses his size to win puck battles. Able to split opponents while holding possession of the puck. Often able to find open ice to receive a pass or get into open area. Better passing when moving the puck up ice to create a play or a cross-ice pass. He has some good tools to his overall game.
