Battalion’s Coe big on potential

Big, developed frame with lots of room for adding weight and strength. Coe shows long, powerful strides, generating above-average speed when he has room to accelerate. Foot speed can be an issue at times and will have to improve at the next level, but also shows great balance and strength on his edges when fighting through contact. Good hands for a power forward type; shows both the ability to dig pucks out of scrums and carry the play across the offensive blue line. Loves to circle the offensive zone, using his length to protect the puck while surveying the zone for passing lanes. Flashes an impressive snapshot when he gets into scoring areas, showing more aggressiveness throwing the puck on net tonight than he usually does. Tenacity can vary from shift to shift, but he likes to attack defenders and uses his long reach to disrupt passes to his side of the ice. Clearly put in the work defensively from last season, showing better awareness to cover pinching defenders and rotating to defend the cycle. His physical game is among the best in the OHL, using his strength both with the puck and leaning on opponents to get it back when losing possession. As a budding power forward in the making with above-average hands and a demonstrated leadership ability on a young, rebuilding team, he has seen his draft stock rise as his scoring has become more consistent though his defensive game could use more work.
