Miftakhov displays flashes of skilled capabilities, but the road to the pro level sees far away from now for the young prospect. He has light feet and is extremely mobile in his crease, moving from backward to forward swiftly and pivots without any restriction. Always ready for a rush of shots, he can go up and down in a hurry, and coming from that Russian goalie factory, he is very athletic. His reflexes look sharp and when you think you have him beat, he makes a spectacular save.  Despite those agility capabilities, he must improve his positioning when it comes to depth in the crease. The fact that he is a smaller goalie puts him a tricky spot and hurts him. He needs to better challenge the shooter give himself a chance to better cover up his angles, but without losing track of his positioning in the net. He must simplify the way he plays. especially when he may prefer to make a huge sprawling save rather than a simple butterfly-pad save that would give better results. His glove might be weak on occasions as he looks to have two blockers rather, struggling to catch properly pucks. He also needs to work on his rebound control, better playing the puck away from dangerous spots. His main weakness might be the mental side of his game. When the stakes are higher, he seems to crumble under pressure with mental mistakes leading to goals allowed.
