Christopoulos has the strength to be a physical player and the talent to play a skilled game. He has a solid work ethic and plays with high energy. On forechecks he takes good routes and clearly utilizes his angling ability and stick placement to create turnovers. Keeps his feet moving and has a powerful first few strides, which allows him to accelerate and get to top speed quickly. In the offensive zone he is already quite comfortable. His puck protection is very good, as he can take pucks off the wall and into the middle of the ice, and shows good control while under pressure or receiving contact. He’s capable of being a really effective playmaker but seems to be more suited to being a shooter. His shot is heavy, very accurate, and he can release it quickly off the pass or in stride. Reads the play well and is able to go undetected in the offensive zone and make himself an option for a scoring chance. On the backcheck he plays with purpose by identifying threats and works hard to track down opponents. Will really hustle and commit himself if he spots an emergency situation where he can help out his team. Defensively, he is effective by being positionally sound and reading plays, though are the still the odd times where he loses track of play a bit. Shows a willingness to help out his defenders, such as by tying his man up. He does need a bit more patience with the puck while in the defensive zone, which would lead to him being able to initiate more controlled zone exits, but he at least demonstrates confidence. Going forward Christopoulos should be a prime cog in North Bay’s offensive machine and projects well as an energy guy with offensive upside at the pro level.
