Kemell’s hot start sets Liiga mark

Joakim Kemell has made Liiga history.

Kemell, eligible for the 2022 NHL Draft, has become the youngest player in league history to score in each of his first two games. The 17-year-old’s bid for goals in three straight games ended Wednesday. He has three points (two goals, one assist) in three games with JYP this season.

Kemell, who turns 18 in April, is regarded as one of the top Finnish-born players for the 2022 draft.

“Kemell is an all-around player who is active in every aspect of the game,” FCHockey scout Austin Broad wrote in a recent report from the Hlinka Gretzky Cup in August. “His ability to impact the game offensively while playing a physical game make him an intriguing prospect to watch. He has high-end offensive instincts and knows how to work both on and off the puck.”
