Edvinsson, Lysell headline Sweden’s U18 entry

Simon Edvinsson, a top prospect for the 2021 NHL Draft, was among the 24 skaters named to Team Sweden for the 2021 IIHF World Under-18 Hockey Championship.

The tournament runs from April 26 to May 6 in Frisco and Plano, Texas.

Edvinsson spent the majority of his draft year with Frolunda in both the J20 Nationell (one goal, five assists in 14 games) and the top-tier SHL (one assist in 10 games). He was loaned to Vasteras of the HockeyAllsvenskan (five assists in 14 games), helping them in their playoff run with one goal and two assists. Edvinsson was ranked fourth in FCHockey’s recent Winter rankings for the 2021 NHL Draft.

Joining Edvinsson is former teammate Fabian Lysell, No. 10 in FCHockey’s rankings, who appeared in 26 games for the SHL’s Lulea, collecting two goals and an assist.

Overall, eight players ranked inside the top-100 of FCHockey’s winter ranking for the 2021 NHL Draft have been invited, including Edvinsson, Lysell, Simon Robertsson (24), Isak Rosen (26), Anton Olsson (44), William Stromgren (46), Victor Sjoholm (73), and Liam Dower Nilsson (94).
