Caleb Desnoyers adds pair of trophies to impressive hardware haul

Caleb Desnoyers is going to need a bigger mantle.

Desnoyers, a top prospect for the 2025 NHL Draft, helped his side win the Gilles-Courteau Trophy as Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League champion.

The 18-year-old from Moncton was awarded the Guy LaFleur Trophy as the QMJHL Playoffs MVP after finishing second in playoff scoring with 30 points (nine goals 21 assists) in 19 games.

“After a dominant regular season, Desnoyers elevated his game even further in the playoffs,” FCHockey chief scout Joey Fortin Boulay said. “Every game, he was the most impactful player on the ice, generating high-danger looks for his team, scoring clutch goals, winning key faceoffs, and neutralizing the opposition. He was constantly winning battles, manipulating pucks in tight and creating savvy looks for his teammates.

“His playing style is built for winning hockey, and this playoff run was a perfect embodiment of that.”

Moncton defeated Rimouski 3-2 in Game 6 of the QMJHL Championship Series in the win.

It gives Desnoyers his fourth championship in 18 months.

He won gold with Canada White at the 2023 World Under-17 Challenge, and doubled down again with gold at the 2024 IIHF World Under-18 Championship. He was again golden for Canada at the 2024 Hlinka Gretzky Cup in August.

His QMJHL championship is a bit of a trend.

Desnoyers, who had 84 points (35 goals, 49 assists) in 56 games for Moncton this season, is No. 4 in FCHockey’s Final ranking for the 2025 draft.
