Caleb Desnoyers played much of season with injured wrists: report
Even a pair of injuries couldn’t slow Caleb Desnoyers this season.
Desnoyers, No. 4 in FCHockey’s Final ranking for the 2025 NHL Draft, played the majority of the season with injuries to both wrists, according to Scott Wheeler of The Athletic. Wheeler spoke to Desnoyers at the 2025 NHL Scouting Combine in Buffalo, where the top prospect revealed the injury.
He will not participate in the combine as a result of the injuries, sustained in November.
It didn’t seem to slow the 18-year-old down any.
Desnoyers, who was 63.7% on faceoffs in the regular season, finished with a share of fifth in scoring in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League, netting 84 points (35 goals, 49 assists) in just 56 games with Moncton. His 1.50 point-per-game pace was second league-wide and led all NHL Draft eligibles.
He got even better when things got more important.
Desnoyers finished second in scoring in the QMJHL playoffs, and was awarded the Guy Lafleur Trophy as the QMJHL Playoffs MVP after finishing second in playoff scoring with 30 points (nine goals 21 assists) in 19 games. He was 59% at the dot in postseason play.
He helped Moncton to the Gilles-Courteau Trophy as QMJHL champion and a berth in the Memorial Cup.
The center also helped Canada to gold at the 2024 Hlinka Gretzky Cup in August, after winning gold at the 2024 IIHF World Under-18 Championship 14 months ago.
