Klimovich to represent Belarus at World Championship

Danila Klimovich, eligible for the 2021 NHL Draft, was among the 27 players named to represent Belarus at the 2021 IIHF men’s World Championship.

The tournament will be held in Riga, Latvia from May 21 – June 6.

Klimovich, unranked in FCHockey’s Spring ranking for the 2021 draft, was included among the 14 forwards named to the team Sunday. The 18-year-old had 52 points (28 goals, 24 assists) in 37 games with Minskie Zubry this season. He was a standout for Belarus at the 2021 IIHF World Under-18 Championship, scoring six goals in five games en route to being named one of his country’s three best players and one of the tournament’s top risers for the 2021 draft.

Klimovich joins two other high-profile NHL Draft eligibles in the tournament.

Owen Power will represent Canada at the event, and Matthew Beniers will participate for Team USA. Each played for the University of Michigan this season.
